Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen and Danny Gokey Are Hot

The season 8 final four American Idol contestants rocked the stage in style May 5, 2009 singing classic rock and roll songs. Contestants gave performances their all.

What a night. Even Simon Cowell spent the evening smiling ear to ear. It is obvious that Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen and Danny Gokey are a very talented top four. Some would say the best final four on American Idol ever.

It will be a close race, but most agree these young singers will be continuing onto great music careers in the future.

Classic Rock on American Idol Season 8 - 2009

The American Idol Final Four had their pick of classic rock hits this week, and everyone got high marks in one way or another. Each contestant sang one solo and then a duet with another idol, adding a new dimension to the realty T.V. show.

Adam gave the first solo performance, picking the legendary Led Zeppelin song Whole Lotta Love. Per usual, Adam’s vocals and stage presence were stellar.

It was a good night for Allison, who seems to get better every week. Talented and confident beyond her years, this 17 year-old rocker continues to surprise and delight audiences. She looked hot with her new haircut, style, and color.

Kris picked a rather odd Beatles song (as opposed to more mainstream) that may not go over well with the home audience. The judges gave him “props” for a good try, but felt the song was not a terrific pick for him. He did have some good moments and looked more like a star than usual (changing out his usual t-shirt for more stylish garb). His vocals and guitar were well done.

Danny started strong with this song, but in preview film mentor Slash pointed out that Danny had to nail the last challenging note. This may have put extra pressure on the singer and on television it was difficult to tell if he hit and held the note with the band playing loudly over his vocals. The judges gave him credit for trying, but Simon referred to the final note as something out of a horror show.

Danny pointed out he was trying to stretch beyond his comfort zone, but the judges seemed to think perhaps he stretched too far.

New American Idol Duet Performances

Two surprising duets were added and brought new excitement to the evening. Paired up were Kris with Danny, and Adam with Allison.

First Kris and Danny sang Renegade by Styx. Their voices harmonized quite well and it was a solid and fun performance.

Adam and Allison, the resident rockers, were amazing (as most would expect). They sang Foghat’s Slow Ride and seemed to have the time of their lives. The match-up was perfect and it was suggested they needed to record duets with each other on their solo albums. Adam and Allison hugged and Adam said Allison was like a little sister to him. Very sweet, indeed.
